We are particularly interested in therapists who are comfortable working within structured clinical service environments that require timely documentation, ongoing communication with third-party systems or referral partners, and adherence to established reporting processes. Ideal candidates will have experience supporting clients navigating work-related stress, trauma, injury recovery, life transitions, and other complex psychosocial concerns, while balancing compassionate clinical care with administrative and professional accountability.
The successful candidate will be adaptable in their approach to service delivery and comfortable providing psychotherapy through both in-person and virtual modalities, depending on client needs and organizational priorities. Experience working within short-term, goal-oriented models of care, interdisciplinary systems, or programs involving coordinated care and formal documentation requirements will be considered a strong asset.
Specific clinical duties include intake, assessment, intervention, evaluation, safety planning, crisis intervention and response, and long-term/short-term psychotherapy as follows:
Intake, Risk Assessment Management
- Facilitate intake process, including responding to questions, ensuring proper documentation and providing a positive and welcoming first point of contact
- Conduct risk/safety assessments for immediate risk of suicide, homicide, self or other harm
- Ensure timely, effective and de-escalating responses to risk and crisis concerns
- Work collaboratively with internal and external Circle of Care teams where required
- Create safety/wellness plans for management of suicidal/self/other harm risk as needed
- Ensure clients are provided with resources, facilitated referrals, and clearly identified next steps for support and safety
- Maintain familiarity with crisis resources/supports
- Facilitate external referrals for clients whose needs require specialized treatment or intensive psychotherapy
Psychotherapy
- Maintain an active caseload and collaborate with clients to identify treatment goals appropriate for long-term and short-term therapy
- Create collaborative, individualized treatment plans recognizing clients’ strengths and needs in accordance with professional standards and best practices
- Provide professional counselling appropriate to clients’ personal, developmental, psychological, psychiatric, workplace, and trauma-related concerns
- Complete risk assessment and management plans with clients presenting in crisis or with suicide risk
- Provide timely crisis intervention, safety planning, support, documentation, and referrals as required
- Support clients whose needs are outside scope of practice to identify and access additional support services
- Facilitate group therapy and/or workshops as required
- Deliver services through both virtual and in-person modalities based on client and organizational needs
Documentation
- Complete documentation to ensure effective safety monitoring for clients at risk
- Use shared electronic record systems to document sessions and related information in accordance with group practice policies
- Uphold a Circle of Care approach by facilitating communication with external partners through appropriate consent processes
- Complete requests for formal documentation including case summary reports, verification letters, Emotional Support Animal letters, and WSIB/EAP-related documentation where applicable
- Maintain accurate, timely, and professional clinical records
Team Support
- Actively participate in meetings and consultations with colleagues, including case sharing, professional development, and informal consultation
- Contribute to the effective functioning and coordination of the Network through flexible staffing and service delivery
- Participate in Network meetings and committees to support smooth organizational operations and improved client care
- Engage in peer learning and consultation opportunities to foster trust, culture, and team performance
Supervision
- Perform clinical duties according to professional standards and requirements
- Seek clarification and support with respect to clinical responsibilities from colleagues and other professionals
- Assume personal and financial responsibility for seeking external supervision as necessary
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, Pastoral Counselling, or a related discipline required (registration with a relevant professional college required)
- Demonstrated experience, skill, and interest in providing counselling, crisis assessment and management, and related services
- Experience completing risk assessments and managing client risk in an outpatient setting, including safety planning
- Experience or familiarity with WSIB documentation, return-to-work concerns, disability-related reporting, and/or EAP service delivery is considered a strong asset
- A comprehensive understanding of race and racism, anti-oppression, anti-racism, and anti-discrimination and their impacts on targeted individuals and communities
- Connections with and awareness of community organizations supporting BIPOC communities
- Experience facilitating groups, workshops, and/or group therapy
- Willingness and ability to provide both virtual and in-person counselling services
- Demonstrated ability using computerized scheduling and documentation systems
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, reliability, flexibility, interpersonal skills, and team collaboration
- Kind, caring, and positive approach to client support and interactions
- Demonstrated reliability and dependability
