Metro Testing + Engineering is hiring a career minded person for a Field Medical Gas Inspector Trainee position. It is full time position with our Medical Gas Conformity team. This is a field position and will require regular travel within BC.
The Field Inspector Trainee will become our new Field Inspector in 8-12 months.

Metro Testing + Engineering (Metro) was established in 1987 in Metro Vancouver, BC to provide materials testing of concrete, asphalt, and soils for the construction industry. Since then, we have grown to include a diverse scope of services that now includes specialty testing, materials engineering, geotechnical engineering, environmental consulting, concrete restoration, and quality assurance certification throughout BC and Alberta.
What you will be doing:
- Accompanying the Medical Gas Inspection Field Inspector to work sites across BC
- Assist with medical gas pipeline system testing and inspection preparations.
- Assist with all testing, inspection, and certification requirements of non-flammable medical gas piping systems.
- Assist with inspection report preparation.
- Coordinates testing and scheduling requirements.
- Conducts field tests and samples compressed respirable air systems.

Who we are looking for:
- Valid driver’s license and a vehicle to travel to the job sites
- Demonstrated willingness to learn.
- A Diploma in mechanical engineering, power engineering, chemistry would be an asset but not required
- Basic understanding of chemistry, plumbing, and electrical techniques and concepts
- Willingness to travel
- Physically fit and can lift up to 22KG or 50 lbs.
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Good work ethics
