Where You’ll Add Value
The Litigation Paralegal will work closely with the company’s legal and residential team and will be accountable for a wide range of residential and litigation related legal matters. In particular, the Litigation Law Clerk / Paralegal will be entrusted with protecting and advocating for the interests of the company and its clients before a number of tribunals and courts.
How You’ll Make a Difference
Facilitate the enforcement of eviction orders, rent arrears orders and other judgments, including garnishments;
Prepare various forms and notices as required by and under the Residential Tenancies Act, 2006;
Prepare pleadings, affidavits and related documents, as required;
Attend Small Claims Court and the Landlord and Tenant Board to adjourn matters, obtain consent orders and conduct hearings;
Provide advice and counsel to the business team as required;
Investigate complaints, obtain evidence, and take the initiative to ensure the company is acting in compliance with its legal and regulatory obligations.
The Expertise You’ll Bring
Paralegal designation or equivalent;
Minimum 4 years of experience dealing with tribunals and courts;
Experience with Residential Tenancies Act, 2006 and the Rules of the Small Claims Court Regulation; and
Proficient legal research and computer skills.

Annualized Base Salary Range: $50,000 - $80,000
Pay Equity
The salary range listed for this position reflects the anticipated compensation at the time of posting. Actual compensation offered may vary and will be determined by factors including, but not limited to, experience, education, skills, certifications, internal pay equity and business needs.
