Territory Manager – Western Canada (Edmonton Based)

About the Role
We are seeking an ambitious Territory Manager to support retail partnerships and business development initiatives across Western Canada. Based in Edmonton, this role is responsible for managing customer relationships, identifying growth opportunities, and executing territory strategies that drive long-term business success.
This position offers a combination of field sales, account management, customer support, and business development. The successful candidate will enjoy working independently, building strong customer relationships, and developing opportunities within an established territory.
Success in this role requires strong relationship-building skills, effective territory management, and a proactive approach to identifying growth opportunities.
The role requires regular travel throughout Alberta and British Columbia, with occasional travel to other Western Canadian markets as required. Periodic overnight travel may be required to support customer meetings, business development initiatives, and industry events.
Responsibilities
- Manage and develop an assigned portfolio of customer accounts
- Build and maintain strong relationships with retail owners, operators, and key decision-makers
- Identify opportunities for account growth and increased market penetration
- Prospect and secure new business opportunities within the territory
- Conduct regular customer visits and business reviews
- Execute sales initiatives, promotional programs, and product launches
- Develop and execute territory business plans to achieve growth objectives
- Maintain accurate customer records, opportunities, and activity reporting through CRM systems
- Analyze territory performance and identify opportunities to improve account productivity
- Monitor customer performance and identify opportunities for improvement
- Resolve customer concerns and collaborate with internal teams to deliver solutions
- Track industry trends, competitive activity, and market developments
- Represent the company professionally at customer meetings and industry events
Qualifications
- Previous experience in territory sales, account management, business development, or related customer-facing roles
- Strong communication and relationship-building abilities
- Proven ability to manage priorities and work independently
- Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills
- Comfortable travelling throughout Western Canada
- Experience with CRM software and Microsoft Office applications
- Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle required
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada
Preferred Experience
Experience within one or more of the following industries is considered an asset:
- Consumer packaged goods (CPG)
- Beverage alcohol
- Cannabis
- Tobacco or nicotine products
- Distribution and wholesale sales
- Retail account management
- Convenience retail
- Petroleum and fuel retail
- Telecommunications
- Regulated consumer product industries
Experience managing retail, wholesale, or multi-location customer accounts is considered an asset.
