We are looking for an experienced Lead Accountant to join a manufacturing operation in Richmond, British Columbia. This Long-term Contract position is suited to a hands-on, detail-oriented accounting specialist who can manage full-cycle financial activities, support operational leaders with meaningful analysis, and contribute to sound business decisions. The successful candidate will work closely with plant leadership, corporate partners, and cross-functional teams to deliver accurate reporting, strengthen controls, and provide insight into financial and operational performance.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the complete accounting cycle, including monthly close, journal entries, reconciliations, and the preparation of accurate financial results.
- Enter and validate trial balance information in the company’s reporting platform each month to support timely corporate reporting.
- Prepare financial statements and analyze balance sheet and income statement activity, highlighting variances and key trends for leadership review.
- Develop weekly and monthly management reports, including operational metrics and KPI summaries, for plant and finance leaders.
- Partner with operations and procurement teams to support annual budgeting activities and ongoing forecasting for the manufacturing site.
- Provide day-to-day oversight and direction to Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable staff to help ensure efficient transaction processing.
- Monitor inventory accounting activities, coordinate inventory count support, and complete reconciliations related to stock movements and balances.
- Contribute to costing, pricing, yield, and profitability analysis to identify risks, opportunities, and areas for improved performance.
- Assess customer and business line profitability and offer financial recommendations that support growth initiatives and operational efficiency.
- Proven experience handling full-cycle accounting from transaction processing through month-end reporting and analysis.
- Strong ability to build effective working relationships with operational stakeholders and corporate finance teams.
- Demonstrated background in account, bank, and balance sheet reconciliations, general ledger maintenance, and journal entry preparation.
- Proficiency in month-end close, financial reporting, KPI tracking, and management reporting in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with inventory accounting within a manufacturing or plant setting is strongly preferred.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and comfort working with ERP or financial systems such as Navision.
- Knowledge of costing, pricing, or profitability analysis is considered an asset.
- Self-directed approach with a positive attitude, sound judgement, and a willingness to take ownership of responsibilities.
