Cake Decorator – Job Duties & Requirements
Job Duties
- Decorate cakes and other bakery products according to established company designs and standards.
- Prepare and apply icing, frosting, and decorative finishes to cakes.
- Complete cake orders accurately and on time following production schedules.
- Maintain consistent product quality, presentation, and portion standards.
- Assist with cake production, filling, icing, and finishing tasks.
- Follow food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures.
- Monitor decorating supplies and notify management when inventory is low.
- Keep workstations clean, organized, and sanitized at all times.
- Work closely with bakery team members to meet daily production goals.
- Provide excellent customer service and assist with cake order inquiries based on available product offerings.
Requirements
- Previous cake decorating or bakery experience preferred.
- Knowledge of piping, frosting, and standard cake decorating techniques.
- Ability to follow established cake designs and company specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and consistency.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs (11 kg).
- Food Safety Certification is an asset.
- Must be available to work early morning shifts starting at 4:00 AM.
- Must be available to work weekends and statutory holidays.
- Reliable transportation for early morning shifts is preferred.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Experience in a retail bakery environment is an asset.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining quality standards.
- Passion for producing high-quality bakery products.
