Job Summary
Howard Johnson by Wyndham Brampton is looking for a reliable, hardworking, and physically fit Cleaner / General Maintenance Assistant to join our team. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work and takes pride in keeping the hotel clean, organized, and well-maintained. The role primarily involves cleaning outdoor and common areas, garbage removal, stocking supplies, and assisting with general property maintenance. Occasional assistance with housekeeping duties may be required based on operational needs.
Responsibilities
- Maintain the cleanliness of the hotel's parking lot, entrances, sidewalks, and outdoor areas.
- Collect and dispose of garbage and recycling from guest rooms, public areas, and designated disposal areas.
- Load, unload, move, and organize housekeeping supplies, linens, and hotel deliveries.
- Stock housekeeping carts, storage rooms, laundry areas, and supply closets.
- Assist with moving furniture, equipment, and other items as needed.
- Clean hallways, stairwells, lobby, public washrooms, and other common areas.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and perform general cleaning throughout the property.
- Assist with snow and ice removal during winter months, if required.
- Report maintenance issues, safety hazards, or damaged equipment to management.
- Use cleaning equipment and chemicals safely and according to hotel procedures.
- Occasionally assist the housekeeping team with room cleaning, laundry, or other housekeeping duties during busy periods.
- Perform other cleaning and general labor duties assigned by management.
Requirements
- Previous cleaning, housekeeping, janitorial, or general labor experience is an asset but not required.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Reliable, punctual, and dependable.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Good attention to detail and strong work ethic.
- Willingness to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays when required.
- Legally authorized to work in Canada.
