Urban Eyecare is a modern optometry clinic and optical boutique with two locations in Calgary, AB. We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optometric Assistant/ Optician to join our team at our NE location in Sunridge Mall. This role is essential in providing exceptional patient care and support within our optometry practice. The ideal candidate will have a passion for helping others, and will play a vital role in ensuring smooth office operations while assisting with patient interactions and optical sales. Responsibilities
- Assist optometrists during patient examinations by preparing the examination room and ensuring all necessary equipment is ready for use.
- Manage patient flow by greeting patients, checking them in, and obtaining necessary medical history information.
- Utilize electronic medical records to document patient information accurately and efficiently.
- Provide excellent patient care by answering questions, addressing concerns, and ensuring comfort during visits.
- Educate patients on proper contact lens care and eyewear options, promoting optical products effectively.
- Perform administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing front desk operations, and handling insurance verifications.
- Collaborate with team members to maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Stay updated on the latest optical products and services to assist with retail sales effectively.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in an optometry/ optical environment preferred.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with patients of all ages.
- Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment while also being self-motivated.
- Experience in sales or retail sales within an optical setting is advantageous but not required.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are essential for managing multiple tasks efficiently.
