Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Prioritize daily vehicle work orders to ensure timely repair.
- Maintain a clean and safe-working environment.
- Determine action to be taken on all truck and trailer breakdowns.
- Understand and follow federal, provincial and local regulations such as those governing the disposal of hazardous waste.
- Assist in the safety and compliance of the shop work and work force and assist in audits and inspections.
- Assist in achieving departmental accountability measures.
- Perform maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on tractors, construction equipment, and other diesel-powered machinery.
- Working on pumps and Winter Plowing.
Qualifications:
- 2-3+ years of truck repair experience. (Diesel mechanic experience preferred)
- Thorough knowledge of tractor, trailer and tanker equipment maintenance with heavy emphasis on diesel engine maintenance and repair.
- Strong understanding of diesel engines, emissions systems, hydraulic systems, 12V electrical systems, and related components.
- Ability to effectively plan and coordinate preventive maintenance strategies for transportation equipment.
- Ownership of a reliable set of tools.
- Licensed and unlicensed technicians are welcome to apply.
- Working knowledge and experience with maintenance computerized maintenance management systems as well as Microsoft Excel and Word.

- Electrical and electronic controls

Specific Skills
- Detect and troubleshoot irregularities and malfunctions
- Repair or replace defective machinery parts
- Fabricate parts required during overhaul
- maintenance or set-up, Perform routine maintenance work on machinery
- Operate machining tools to fabricate parts
- Installing machinery and equipment
