Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Hardscape Labourer to join our construction team. This role involves assisting with the installation and maintenance of outdoor hardscape features, including patios, walkways, retaining walls, and other masonry projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Prior experience in construction or related trades is preferred but not required; training will be provided for specific tasks. This position offers opportunities for skill development across various construction disciplines and hands-on experience with different tools and materials.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and layout of hardscape projects according to blueprints and schematics
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and heavy equipment safely and efficiently
- Mix, pour, and finish concrete for various structures such as walkways and retaining walls
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings to ensure accurate project execution
- Perform masonry tasks including bricklaying, stone setting, and concrete forming
- Install tile, flooring, and cabinetry as needed for landscaping features or adjacent structures
- Support carpentry tasks such as framing or form building for concrete pours
- Apply caulking, sealing, or restoration techniques to ensure durability of finished work
- Assist with plumbing or electrical installations related to outdoor features when required
- Maintain a clean and organized work site, adhering to safety protocols at all times
Experience
- Prior experience in construction, masonry, or related trades is highly desirable but not mandatory; on-the-job training will be provided
- Familiarity with blueprint reading, schematics, and construction estimating is a plus
- Skills in carpentry, concrete finishing, welding, or flooring installation are advantageous
- Experience operating heavy equipment such as skid steers or compactors is beneficial
- Knowledge of electrical or plumbing systems related to outdoor projects can be an asset
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions while maintaining safety standards
