Duties
- Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup
- Applying flouride treatment and pit and fissure sealants
- Review and updating patient's medical and dental history
- Providing individualized oral hygiene instruction and home care recommendations
- Completing periodontal (gum) assessments and charting
- Assessing oral health and identifying signs of disease
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) while ensuring patient safety and comfort
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, preventative care, and treatment options
- Assist in developing personalized treatment plans alongside the dental team
- Maintain accurate patient records using dental practice management software
- Support the dental team with chairside assistance during procedures when needed
- Ensure infection control protocols are strictly followed to maintain a safe environment for all patients
Requirements
- Valid license as a Registered Dental Hygienist in Ontario
- Knowledge of general dentistry procedures
- Maintain professional liability insurance
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and empathetically
- Prior experience in a dental office setting, including dental assisting or hygiene roles
- Familiarity with medical terminology relevant to dentistry and oral health
