Job Description:
We’re looking for a Merchandise Controller to play a key role in ensuring high-quality, well-timed merchandise flows smoothly into our Distribution Center. In this role, you’ll influence product value and seasonality while supporting efficient, streamlined production across the DC. You’ll also gain strong cross-functional exposure by serving as a trusted liaison between Distribution Services and the Home Office Merchandising and Planning & Allocation teams. This is a great opportunity to build visibility, strengthen partnerships, and make a direct impact on how merchandise moves from strategy to store.
Why Work With Us?
We value integrity, respect, and teamwork, encouraging a unique and inclusive culture.
Enjoy Associate discounts at our stores, available to you and eligible family members.
Immediate access to our Group Benefits package, including a Health Care Spending Account, Retirement Savings Program, Associate & Family Assistance Program, and various well-being resources
A competitive vacation package, paired with a Vacation Trade Program that allows you to opt in for an extra week.
Comprehensive training and development resources designed to help you learn, grow, and succeed.
Exciting career paths with growth opportunities and tuition reimbursement to support your career progression.
Enjoy shift premiums, safety shoe reimbursement, a self-serve beverage and snack station, and access to a Retirement Savings Program
What You’ll Do:
Ensure damaged, problem merchandise and RTVs are identified and processed in line with established guidelines.
Inspect merchandise for all legal labeling requirements, including CSA standards, bilingual labeling, fabric content, and country of origin.
Review logos, graphics, hangtags, and overall product presentation to confirm store readiness and brand alignment.
Identify merchandise discrepancies (e.g., items not originally ordered) and partner with Planning to assign accurate descriptions and retail pricing.
Communicate effectively with Merchandise Assistants, Buying, Planning, and DC Management using phone, email, and digital imaging to support efficient processing and production flow.
Analyze and resolve complex merchandise issues (e.g., missing purchase orders, pre-ticketed orders, samples) using Mainframe and SCAN systems.
Ensure merchandise delivers strong customer value across fashion, quality, price, and brand; challenge retail pricing to meet company standards of 20–60% off “comparable at” pricing.
Partner with Planning to follow established procedures that improve processing efficiency and operational flow.
Proactively identify, address, and document vendor compliance issues in the SCAN compliance log.
Execute merchant direction by pulling samples for advertising and in-store promotions, while supporting cross-functional initiatives and building strong, collaborative relationships across teams.
About You:
High school diploma (OSSD Grade 12) or equivalent required; post-secondary education in Business Administration or Fashion Merchandising is an asset.
Two or more years of experience in retail merchandising and/or distribution, with working knowledge of brand, fashion, quality, and pricing.
Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to balance multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail.
Clear, professional verbal and written communication skills, paired with a customer-focused approach to identifying both stated and unstated needs.
Analytical and solutions-oriented, applying a solid understanding of DC operations, merchandise, and systems to make sound decisions.
Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively across teams and partners.
Intermediate computer proficiency, including word processing, email, and mainframe systems such as IMSP and SCAN; able to build productive working relationships with Distribution Services, management, associates, and external contacts.
