We are currently recruiting for a caring and dedicated permanent full time LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE or HEALTH CARE AIDE. This position has the title of Supportive Services Supervisor. This is an exciting permanent full-time position for a professional and reliable candidate who is able to work independently and cooperatively in a team environment.
The Supportive Services Supervisor - Licensed Practical Nurse or Health Care Aide responsibilities include scheduling of staff and tasks, evaluation, supervision, training, quality control, recruitment and oversight of Independent Living Assistants (HCA’s). In addition, the Supportive Services Supervisor - Licensed Practical Nurse or Health Care Aide will work closely with AHS Case Managers, and will also schedule and delegate authorized personal care services for clients to the ILA’s.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Schedule and prioritize support services in collaboration with Home Care Nurse.
- Receives comments/information from staff and reports to the Home Care Nurse/Clinical Compliance Lead/Manager changes in individual Resident conditions, behaviour, participation in unusual activities; and over-all care needs.
- Supervise, train and evaluate Independent Living Assistants (HCAs).
- Assign daily tasks to ILAs, ensuring alignment with care plans.
- Oversee quality control in service delivery, including laundry and meal service.
- Manage ILA orientation and disciplinary actions.
- Provide services as authorized, including medication administration.
- Liaises with Pharmacies regarding medication changes and concerns.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Licensed Practical Nurse certificate or Health Care Aide certificate and registration in good standing with the CLHA is required.
- First Aid and CPR certification is required.
- Minimum two years' experience providing services to the elderly in a Supportive Living environment is preferred.
- Experience in scheduling and supervising health care staff.
- Proficient computer skills including MS Office Word and Excel, and ability to learn new programs.
- Proficient in spoken and written English.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrates leadership and problem-solving abilities.
ALL SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES MUST HAVE PRIOR TO START DATE:
- A current and clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check that has been obtained on more than 90 calendar days prior to the hire date.
- A tuberculosis screening that has been completed no more than 12 months prior to the hire date.
- Completion of all Hepatitis B vaccines.
