Western Fine Meats is looking for a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our production facility in Claresholm. You will be a key player in ensuring our food processing equipment operates at peak efficiency. This role requires a blend of mechanical expertise, troubleshooting skills, and a commitment to the high safety and sanitation standards required in a food manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on food processing machinery (conveyors, injectors, packaging machines, etc.).
- Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic system failures to minimize production downtime.
- Install, align, and dismantle industrial machinery according to layout plans and blueprints.
- Collaborate with the production team to identify equipment improvements and efficiency gains.
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs and ensure all work complies with food safety (HACCP) and OHS regulations.
- Respond to emergency breakdowns during production shifts as needed.
Qualifications & Skills
- At least 5 years of proven experience in a maintenance-focused role is required.
- Valid Journeyman Millwright ticket or equivalent Red Seal certification.
- Previous experience in a food processing or manufacturing plant is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, and motor controls. Welding and fabrication skills are a significant asset.
- Knowledge of HACCP, SQF, or general food safety protocols is an asset.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work in varied temperature environments (coolers/production floor), and stand for extended periods.
- Must have a strong work ethic and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
