SUMMARY OVERVIEW
The Training & Safety Manager is responsible for managing and overseeing the development, implementation, and delivery of training programs for all aviation staff. This role ensures that training is in compliance with FAA regulations, company policies, and industry standards, while promoting safety, operational efficiency, and excellent customer service. The manager will also evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and make continuous improvements to meet the evolving needs of the organization.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Confers with management to gain knowledge of work situation(s) requiring training for employees to better understand changes in police, procedures, regulation and technologies
- Formulates teaching outline and determines instructional methods such as individual training, group instruction, lectures, demonstrations, conferences, meeting and workshops
- Recommends Selects or develops teaching aids such as training handbooks, demonstration models, multimedia visual aids, computer tutorials and reference works using company supplied material(s)
- Directs training sessions covering specified areas such as new employee orientation, on-the-job training, health and safety practices, recurrent training
- Oversees progress of training measures and evaluate effectiveness of training
- Reports on progress of employees under guidance during training periods
- Monitors performance of trained personnel
- Involvement in audits by outside sources
- Ensures employee training files and airline manuals are maintained current
- Assists, plans and implements safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Department of Transportation (DOT)
- Advises on safety compliance concerns and preventative actions
- Oversees safety surveys and inspections, ensures written reports of findings and recommendations for corrective or preventive measures where indicated are documented and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented
- Assist in post-accident investigations and reports, identifying possible accident causes and hazards for use by company personnel
- Assist with training, in the development, evaluation and upgrading of safety programs
- Perform any additional duties as assigned by management
QUALIFICATIONS
- 18 years of age or older
- Eligible to work in Canada
- Minimum 3 years of aviation/distribution experience
- Minimum 3 years training experience
- Knowledge of OSHA, MSHA, DOT, and EPA preferred
- Intermediate/Highly proficient Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
- Communicate effectively in English (reading, writing, speaking)
- Must possess a valid, provincially issued permanent driver’s license (e.g., Class 5 or Class G)
- Ability to access and interpret information in print and electronically, including the use electronic devices including IPads/Tablets, Computers, and Mobile Devices
- Effectively communicate with colleagues and clients, both in-person and through electronic means
- Eligible to pass a background check and obtain and maintain a RAIC (Restricted Area Identity Card)
- Airlines are 24/7, so we need our team members to be flexible to work various shifts including nights, weekends and holidays

- Specific vision abilities required for this job include: Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less); distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more); peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point); depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships); ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus)
