Job Summary
We are seeking a dependable and experienced Long Haul Truck Driver to join our transportation team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for safely transporting freight across long distances, ensuring timely deliveries, and maintaining the highest standards of safety and professionalism. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, excellent driving skills, and the ability to operate various types of heavy equipment.
Duties
- Safely operate commercial trucks over long distances, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations
- Transport freight efficiently from origin to destination, ensuring timely deliveries
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to identify any mechanical issues or safety concerns
- Load and unload freight using forklifts or other heavy equipment as needed
- Maintain accurate documentation of deliveries, mileage, and fuel consumption
- Perform basic automotive repairs or troubleshooting when necessary to ensure vehicle operability
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and clients regarding delivery schedules and any potential delays
- Follow company safety protocols and maintain compliance with all federal and state transportation regulations
Requirements
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record
- Experience in commercial driving, freight transportation, or related fields preferred
- Knowledge of heavy equipment operation such as forklifts is a plus
- Ability to operate heavy machinery safely and efficiently
- Basic automotive repair skills for troubleshooting vehicle issues on the road
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for accurate record keeping
- Ability to work independently on long trips, often involving overnight stays
- Physical ability to load/unload freight and operate heavy equipment as needed
- Prior experience with freight handling is desirable but not mandatory
