COMPENSATION: $65,000.00

About the Role
The Human Resources Generalist supports the day-to-day operations of the HR function, with a strong focus on recruitment, payroll systems, employee relations, and compliance. This role works closely with the Executive Director and leadership team to ensure HR practices align with organizational policies, regulatory requirements, and Caritas’ commitment to quality, accountability, and equity-based care.
Key Responsibilities
Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:1. Recruitment & Talent Acquisition
· Manage full-cycle recruitment, including job postings, screening, interviewing, and reference checks,including draft job descriptions and job postings, conduct phone screenings, develop interview questions in consultation with supervisor
· Coordinate workforce planning and support staffing strategies · Develop and implement recruitment initiatives and track recruitment metrics 2. Onboarding & Employee Lifecycle· Coordinate onboarding and orientation processes for new hires · Prepare employment agreements, extensions, and internal transitions
· Review and ensure accuracy of time management records, including vacation, paid personal leave, etc.
· Manage probationary review processes (3-month / 6-month and yearly evaluations)
· Act as a resource for leadership team for follow up and review of probationary review outcomes.
· Administer and maintain Employee Group Benefits program · Maintain employee records within ADP Workforce Now (time, attendance, and payroll-related data) · Support payroll system updates, troubleshoot issues, and generate reports
· Provide support and consultation, and act as a resource to Caritas’s community partners and other community agencies as it pertains to HR related matters, policies, procedures and processes.
3. Employee Relations & HR Advisory
· Ensure daily tasks and responsibilities are conducted with an Anti-Oppression and Anti- Racism (AOAR) framework and through an AOAR lens.
· Assist the leadership team with the application and interpretation of HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance.
· Act as a resource to staff and leadership on HR policies and procedures
· Support grievance meetings, performance improvement plans (PIPs), nd/or preparing for any legal matters.
· Provide HR consultation to internal teams and community partners 4. Compliance, Policies & Health & Safety· Ensure compliance with HR legislation (ESA, Human Rights Code, AOAR, etc.) · Assist with HR policy interpretation and implementation
· Participate as active management member of Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC)
· Support and lead health and safety initiatives and agency wide training such as WHMIS training, etc. and health and safety policy review as a member of the JHSC.
· Coordinate and submit WSIB claims for agency employees as required.
· Act as a resource to agency staff for all HR related matters, including policies, protocols and procedures.
5. Training, Development & Reporting· Coordinate training and professional development initiatives · Maintain staff training records and accreditation tracking · Prepare HR reports and metrics to support leadership and Board reporting · Conduct audits of staff credentials and regulatory compliance 6. Organizational Support· Collaborate with Finance on education reimbursements and HR-related financial processes · Deliver presentations at staff meetings as required · Develop reports and measure data to support the senior leadership team in preparing for Board Meetings. · Conduct regular audits to verify staff registrations and memberships with professional colleges, associations, and other regulatory bodies· Coordinate track training and development initiatives within the agency and maintainstaff’s talent profiles for all internal and external training Accreditation Canada, other duties as assigned.· Perform additional duties aligned with organizational priorities
Qualifications
- Graduate of a Human Resources Management Program from an accredited post-secondary institution
- Member in good standing with HRPA
- Holds the CHRP designation
- Work closely with Executive Leadership and Board
· Must have a minimum of two years’ work experience in recruitment and other HR functions
· Must be proficient and have thorough knowledge in ADP Workforce Now
· Thorough knowledge of the Ontario Employment Standards Act & Ontario Human Rights Code, and other relevant legislation
· Sound knowledge, awareness and understanding of anti-oppression and anti-racism (AOAR) practice
· Exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills
· Extremely detail-oriented and solution-focused
· Sound problem solving and decision-making skills
· Ability to work independently and co-operatively as part of an interdisciplinary team
- Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
· Able to maintain confidentiality and exhibit sound judgment
· Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
· Excellent ownership and a can-do attitude
· A successful Police Vulnerable Sector Check, as per agency policy and procedures
· A valid driver’s license and access to an insured vehicle
· Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal
· The ability to provide services in French and any additional languages a definite asset
