Position Summary
As a Chef, you will:
- Lead and supervise the kitchen team to deliver nutritious, high-quality meals with excellent taste and presentation.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable food safety, sanitation, and workplace health and safety regulations.
- Oversee menu planning, food preparation, inventory management, and dining operations within established budget guidelines.
- Foster a positive dining experience for residents while maintaining a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and ensure the delivery of nutritious and appealing meals for residents seven days per week.
- Supervise, mentor, and support kitchen staff while promoting adherence to food safety, sanitation, and occupational health and safety standards.
- Manage food inventory, purchasing, scheduling, and kitchen operations to support efficiency and cost control.
- Participate in menu development, seasonal planning, and special event dining services.
- Maintain accurate inventory, temperature, and sanitation records in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Ensure compliance with Ontario public health regulations and workplace safety standards.
Qualifications
- Culinary diploma or certificate from a recognized institution, or a minimum of 5 years of experience in high-volume food preparation and fine dining.
- Minimum 2 years of leadership or supervisory experience in a kitchen environment.
- Valid Food Handler Certification required; HACCP certification considered an asset.
- Red Seal Certification is considered an asset.
- Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and infection prevention practices.
- Experience working in retirement living, long-term care, hospitality, or healthcare settings is considered an asset.
