Founded in 1970, Steele Hotels is an independent hotel operator based out of Newfoundland and Labrador Canada. With origins in Gander, NL the company has grown to include 8 properties located in St. John's, NL, Corner Brook, NL, and Fredericton, NB.
Steele Hotels is looking for Banquet Servers to join our growing team at JAG Hotel in St. John’s, NL. The ideal candidate would possess a positive "can-do" attitude, and a high level of professionalism, coupled with a strong work ethic and critical thinking skills. This often involves working in fast-paced environment conditions at varying times throughout the day or night.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
- Being polite and courteous to guests and team members while running food from the kitchen to the tables
- Serving food and beverages to guests at their tables or at serving stations
- Supporting other staff members who may need help in order to maintain guest satisfaction
- Keeping guests and staff members safe by following safety and quality regulations
- Pointing guests in the right direction for necessary services and features of the event
- Demonstrate a professional and positive presentation to guests and colleagues, and be well groomed
- Perform other duties, as assigned
Qualifications, Skills & Attributes:
- Previous experience as a server is preferred
- Must be able to meet the physical demands of the job such as standing for extended periods of time, carrying heavy objects, equipment setup and breakdown
- Excellent communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask and stay organized in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment
- Attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions
