Job Summary
We are seeking motivated and dedicated individuals to join our team as J-man Welders, including 3rd, 2nd, and 1st Year Apprentice Welders, as well as Laborers and Parts Drivers. This dynamic role offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in welding, fabrication, and construction within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will be actively involved in assembling, welding, and maintaining equipment and structures, ensuring quality workmanship and safety standards are met. Whether you're honing your welding techniques or supporting our operations through labor or parts logistics, this position provides a comprehensive experience that fosters growth and hands-on learning.
Responsibilities
- Perform MIG (Metal Inert Gas) and TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) welding on various metal components following blueprints and schematics.
- Assist with rigging tasks to safely lift and position heavy materials or equipment using cranes or forklifts.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and blueprints to ensure precise fabrication and assembly.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, plasma cutters, press brake machines, and other manufacturing equipment efficiently and safely.
- Support assembly processes by measuring with calipers, using basic math skills for accurate fitting, and applying mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot issues.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area while adhering to safety protocols; support the installation of ductwork or structural components as needed.
- Drive parts or materials to designated areas within the facility using company vehicles such as forklifts or parts trucks.
- Assist with machining tasks or component fabrication to meet project specifications.
- Collaborate with team members on construction projects involving steel structures or piping systems.
- Follow all safety guidelines related to welding, rigging, machining, and general labor activities to ensure a safe working environment.
Qualifications
- Previous experience or training in welding (MIG/TIG), manufacturing, construction, or related fields is preferred but not required; enthusiasm for learning is essential.
- Basic mechanical knowledge including the use of hand tools, power tools, calipers, schematics reading, and blueprint interpretation.
- Familiarity with rigging techniques, crane operation, forklift operation, plasma cutting, press brake machines, or schematics is a plus.
- Ability to perform basic math calculations accurately for measurements and assembly tasks.
- Strong work ethic with a focus on safety practices in a manufacturing or construction setting.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn new skills such as machining or advanced welding techniques as part of apprenticeship development.
