The Job:
We are looking for a reliable and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to assist in the preparation and distribution of medications and provide excellent support to both pharmacists and patients. The Pharmacy Technician will play a key role in ensuring the pharmacy operates efficiently and complies with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing prescription medications.
- Accurately enter patient and prescription information into pharmacy software systems.
- Label, package, and organize medications for pharmacist review.
- Maintain pharmacy inventory by ordering, receiving, and stocking medications and supplies.
- Answer phone calls and respond to patient inquiries under the supervision of a pharmacist.
- Process insurance claims and resolve billing issues.
- Help manage prescription refill requests and prior authorizations.
- Ensure the pharmacy area remains clean, organized, and compliant with safety and regulatory guidelines.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient records and sensitive information.
Qualifications:
- Diploma from a Pharmacy Technician College.
- Registered with the College of Pharmacists of BC (RPhT).
- Prior experience in a retail or hospital pharmacy setting is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Basic computer literacy and familiarity with pharmacy software systems.
