Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and results-driven Process Engineer to join our Precious Metals operation’s team. The ideal candidate will bring strong metallurgical expertise and a solid background in process design, analysis, and optimization within a metals or mineral processing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain detailed material and energy balances for process systems
- Create, review, and update Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
- Monitor, analyze, and optimize process performance across precious metal production operations
- Apply metallurgical principles to improve recovery, efficiency, and product quality
- Troubleshoot process issues and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime
- Lead and support continuous improvement and process optimization initiatives
- Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and laboratory teams to ensure process stability and consistency, and product quality
- Prepare technical reports, process documentation, and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Support process design, scale-up, and commissioning activities as required
- Ensure compliance with all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) regulations, standards, and best practices
What is required for this role:
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, Process Engineering, or a related discipline
- Minimum of 5 years post-graduation experience in a process engineering role
- Strong metallurgical experience, preferably in precious metals or hydrometallurgical processing
- Proven experience developing material and energy balances and process simulations
- Hands-on experience with PFD and P&ID development and interpretation
- Demonstrated capability in process optimization and troubleshooting
- Familiarity with analytical techniques (e.g., XRF, ICP) is considered an asset
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Able to successfully complete a background check, pre-placement physical exam and drug screen.
- Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Newfoundland and Labrador, or eligibility/registration in an equivalent jurisdiction, is considered an asset
