Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Cardiac Sonographer to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in adult echocardiography, stress echocardiography, intravenous (IV) cannulation, and contrast-enhanced echocardiography. The successful applicant will be responsible for performing high-quality cardiac ultrasound examinations, assisting in the diagnosis of cardiovascular conditions, and providing exceptional patient care.
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive adult transthoracic echocardiography studies.
- Perform stress echocardiography examinations in accordance with established protocols.
- Establish rapid and secure peripheral intravenous (IV) access for the administration of ultrasound contrast agents.
- Administer contrast agents as per clinic protocols.
- Prepare patients for procedures by explaining the examination process and ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Operate echocardiography equipment efficiently and safely while maintaining high imaging standards.
- Review and assess image quality during examinations and provide preliminary technical observations to interpreting physicians.
- Maintain accurate and complete patient records and examination documentation.
- Collaborate effectively with cardiologists, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care.
- Adhere to infection prevention, patient safety, and quality assurance standards.
- Stay current with developments in echocardiography, stress testing, contrast imaging, and cardiac ultrasound best practices.
Qualifications & Experience
- Current registration with Sonography Canada and CMRITO (Required).
- Registration with ARDMS (Asset).
- Minimum 2 years of recent experience in adult echocardiography (Required).
- Demonstrated experience performing stress echocardiography independently.
- Demonstrated competency in peripheral IV insertion/cannulation and administration of contrast agents for echocardiography.
- Strong knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and patient-care skills.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced clinical environment while maintaining high-quality standards.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with contrast-enhanced echocardiography.
- Experience working in a cardiology clinic or hospital-based cardiac imaging department.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to diagnostic excellence.
