This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced litigation environment and wants to be part of a respected team. Our firm continues to grow, so we are excited to welcome an Intermediate Legal Administrative Assistant to join our Calgary team.
The ideal candidates will have:
· Exceptional attention to detail and is adept at setting priorities
· Strong grammatical skills, including punctuation and proofreading
· Effective communication skills both written and verbal
· Organization and time management skills
· The capability to be an energetic self-starter who initiates and anticipates needs
· A passion for providing superior client service
· The ability to creatively solve problems, make decisions, facilitate and manage deadlines
· The dexterity to remain calm under pressure
· The aptitude to work both independently and within a team
· The capability to work full-time Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week
· The availability to work in the office a minimum of three (3) days per week
Responsibilities:
· Manage calendars, meetings and appointments in a fast-paced litigation practice
· Prepare, review, proofread, and send out legal documents, correspondence, and communications
· Open and close client files and maintain accurate records
· Conduct searches and conflict checks
· Update and maintain client/matter lists
· Prepare and coordinate a high volume of litigation documents and correspondence
· Coordinate court dates, discoveries, and communications with court registries and other parties
· Organize and prepare materials for court proceedings and hearings
· Maintain efficient electronic file materials and BF systems
· Providing day-to-day administrative and litigation support, including but not limited to, arranging couriers, faxing, scanning, and photocopying
· Other duties as required
Qualifications:
· A graduate from a recognized Legal Administration Assistant, Paralegal and/or Law Clerk program
· In-depth knowledge of legal principles and practices
· A minimum of five (5) years litigation experience, preferably in insurance defence
· Exceptional technical skills with Microsoft Office
· Demonstrated ability using electronic file management systems, preferably iManage
· Knowledge of Elite 3E
