Summary
The Centre of Store Manager provides leadership and operational oversight for the Grocery, Dairy, and Frozen Foods departments. This role is responsible for ensuring the store is efficiently stocked, merchandising standards are consistently met, and inventory management is accurate to maximize sales and minimize waste. The Centre of Store Manager drives team performance through clear direction, effective scheduling, and a strong commitment to food safety and customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Departmental Leadership & Supervision
- Team Direction: Provide daily direction and task prioritization for grocery, dairy, and frozen foods staff. Foster a collaborative environment where team members work efficiently and communicate effectively.
- Operational Excellence: Ensure all staff understand and follow store procedures, including proper stocking techniques, rotation (FIFO), and department cleanliness.
- Scheduling: Create and manage schedules based on store needs, seasonal traffic, and labor budgets, ensuring adequate coverage for key tasks.
2. Inventory & Stock Management
- Ordering & Receiving: Oversee the receiving process for new orders, including invoice verification, signing off on deliveries, and ensuring product is promptly moved to the sales floor or proper storage.
- Inventory Accuracy: Supervise and conduct regular inventory counts. Monitor backstock levels and ensure all backstock is organized and processed accurately.
- Stock Rotation & Dating: Strictly enforce stock rotation policies. Conduct regular date-checking routines for all three departments to identify and remove short-dated or outdated products.
- Merchandising: Maintain high merchandising standards. Ensure shelves are faced, product is pulled forward, and signage is accurate and up-to-date. Execute seasonal displays and promotional activities.
3. Safety & Compliance
- Food Safety: Enforce rigorous food safety and sanitation standards. Ensure dairy coolers and freezers are maintained at proper temperatures and that air circulation is not obstructed.
- Store Cleanliness: Maintain cleanliness in all assigned areas, including sweeping, mopping, and ensuring garbage disposal is handled properly.
- Safety Protocols: Enforce workplace safety policies, including safe lifting techniques and clear aisles (no obstructions by pallets or boxes).
4. Customer Service
- Sales Floor Presence: Maintain a professional and helpful presence on the floor. Answer customer inquiries, assist with product location, and handle customer requests promptly.
- Communication: Listen for and respond immediately to PA system calls (e.g., front-end assistance, pump help) as a priority.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Previous experience in a retail grocery environment, specifically within grocery, dairy, or frozen foods.
- Demonstrated ability to manage inventory, utilize ordering systems, and maintain merchandising standards.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to coach and supervise staff.
- Physical ability to handle repetitive stocking tasks, lift heavy boxes, and work in cooler/freezer environments.
- Have open availability, be able to work early mornings or evenings and weekends.
- The Centre of Store Manager reports to the Store Manager and works collaboratively with other department leads to ensure cohesive store operations.

Pay: $28.00-$30.00 per hour
