Sunridge Mazda is looking for an experienced and motivated Pre-Owned Sales Manager to join our management team.
The Pre-Owned Sales Manager is responsible for supporting the growth, profitability, and daily operation of the dealership’s pre-owned vehicle department. This role requires strong experience in used vehicle sales, appraisals, inventory management, customer service, and team leadership.
As a key member of the sales management team, the Pre-Owned Sales Manager will work closely with sales staff, finance managers, service, accounting, inventory, and the General Sales Manager to ensure a smooth sales process and a high level of customer satisfaction.
Job Duties:
- Manage and support the day-to-day operation of the pre-owned vehicle department.
- Assist sales staff with customer interactions, deal structure, negotiations, and closing opportunities.
- Appraise trade-in vehicles and assess market value, condition, reconditioning needs, and resale potential.
- Source quality pre-owned inventory through trade-ins, customer database opportunities, auctions, service lane opportunities, and other acquisition channels.
- Monitor pre-owned inventory levels, pricing, aging, market competitiveness, and merchandising.
- Work with service, detail, and inventory teams to ensure vehicles are inspected, reconditioned, photographed, listed, and ready for sale in a timely manner.
- Maintain current knowledge of market trends, vehicle values, dealership inventory, and competitive pricing.
- Utilize dealership management systems, CRM tools, appraisal tools, and inventory platforms to support accurate reporting and efficient operations.
- Ensure all vehicle listings, pricing, descriptions, and merchandising details are accurate and professionally presented.
- Support sales staff with product knowledge, inventory presentation, appraisal conversations, follow-up expectations, and closing techniques.
- Ensure sales staff follow dealership processes, CRM requirements, and customer experience standards.
- Read, understand, and adhere to all rules, regulations, policies, and procedures as required by the employer.
- Work in strict compliance with the laws of Alberta and Canada, including AMVIC requirements and dealership advertising standards.
- Maintain all reports and records as required by the dealership, manufacturer, and management team.
- Establish and maintain strong working relationships with sales staff, finance managers, service advisors, accounting, inventory, vendors, and management.
- Keep customers and staff updated on vehicle availability, delivery timelines, reconditioning status, and deal progress.
- Consistently meet and exceed customer expectations.
- Handle and resolve customer concerns in a courteous and professional manner, ensuring a positive outcome and maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.
Successful Candidates Possess:
- Previous automotive sales management experience is mandatory, preferably in a pre-owned or used vehicle management role.
- Minimum of 5 years of dealership experience.
- Strong understanding of used vehicle appraisals, pricing, inventory management, reconditioning, and market trends.
- Valid AMVIC certification considered an asset.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Professional demeanour and appearance.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach, support, and motivate a sales team.
- Ability to work in a team environment and build strong relationships throughout the dealership.
- Strong interpersonal skills with an upbeat and engaging attitude.
- Excellent listening, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Self-motivated with an excellent work ethic.
- Ability to problem solve and maintain high attention to detail.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong computer skills and understanding of dealership technology.
- Experience with DealerSocket, CDK, AutoAlert, Kijiji, AutoTrader, auction websites, and online vehicle acquisition platforms considered an asset.
