Lead aviation operations at the front lines of Canada’s North. Based in Iqaluit, Nunavut, this is a rare opportunity to take full operational and strategic ownership of a fixed base operation in one of the country’s most complex and high-impact environments. As General Manager, you will play a critical role in keeping Nunavut connected through safe, efficient, and reliable aviation services.
Frobisher Bay Touchdown Services is a full-service fixed base operator (FBO) located at Iqaluit International Airport. As a vital gateway to Nunavut, the company provides essential aviation support services including aircraft ground handling, fueling coordination, cargo logistics, overnight parking, commissary, grooming as well as passenger and crew services. Operating in a remote Arctic environment, the team is committed to safety, operational excellence, and delivering responsive, client-focused services to commercial, private, cargo, and military aviation partners.
Reporting to the President, the General Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, strategic direction, and day-to-day management of a 24/7 FBO operation. This full-time role ensures safe, efficient, and customer-focused service delivery across all operational areas while maintaining regulatory compliance and high performance standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Overseeing all 24/7 operations, ensuring seamless coordination across day, evening, and night shifts.
● Leading and managing ground handling, fueling coordination, cargo operations, passenger services, and aircraft support functions.

● Building, mentoring, and managing a diverse, small multidisciplinary team while ensuring adequate staffing and training.
● Managing budgets, financial performance, procurement, and identifying opportunities for growth and efficiency.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
The ideal candidate brings strong leadership experience in aviation operations along with a deep understanding of safety, compliance, and service delivery in regulated environments. Given the federal oversight of aviation in Canada, this role requires a thorough knowledge of Transport Canada regulations, Safety Management Systems (SMS), and occupational health and safety standards. Experience operating in remote or northern environments is a significant asset, along with an understanding of Nunavut’s land, culture, and communities.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of five (5) years of progressive leadership experience in aviation, FBO, or airport operations is required. Education in aviation, business, or a related field is considered an asset. The successful candidate will demonstrate sound judgment, adaptability, strong communication skills and technical proficiency, and the ability to lead in a complex, high-stakes environment.
A Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC) is considered a strong asset. The successful candidate must be eligible for and obtain a RAIC within six (6) months of hire. Employment is conditional upon obtaining and maintaining the RAIC, which requires completion of a satisfactory Criminal Record Check.
