Position Summary
The Shipper / Receiver / Kitter is responsible for ensuring the efficient flow of materials throughout Daequip's manufacturing operation. This position receives incoming materials, prepares outbound shipments, kits parts for production, maintains inventory accuracy, and supports fabrication, machining, assembly, and service departments to ensure projects are completed on schedule.
This role is critical to maintaining lean manufacturing practices, reducing production downtime, and ensuring customers receive complete, accurate, and on-time shipments. The duties align with standard shipper/receiver responsibilities while adding manufacturing-specific kitting functions.
Key Responsibilities
Shipping
- Pick, package and prepare customer orders for shipment.
- Verify shipment accuracy against work orders and packing slips.
- Prepare bills of lading, courier documentation and shipping labels.
- Schedule freight pickups with carriers.
- Secure loads to prevent shipping damage.
- Coordinate domestic and international shipments.
- Load trucks safely using forklifts, cranes and lifting equipment.
- Maintain shipping records within the ERP system.
Receiving
- Receive raw materials, purchased parts and consumables.
- Inspect incoming shipments for damage, shortages and quality issues.
- Verify packing slips against purchase orders.
- Label and identify received materials.
- Enter receipts into the ERP/inventory system.
- Deliver materials to designated storage or production areas.
- Report discrepancies to Purchasing.
Kitting & Production Support
- Pick components according to production work orders.
- Assemble complete kits for fabrication, machining and assembly departments.
- Verify quantities before releasing kits.
- Stage materials to support production schedules.
- Return unused materials to inventory.
- Support production teams with urgent material requests.
- Assist with material movement throughout the shop.
Inventory Control
- Perform cycle counts.
- Maintain organized warehouse and storage locations.
- Ensure accurate inventory transactions.
- Monitor minimum stock levels.
- Assist with annual physical inventory.
- Maintain FIFO inventory practices where applicable.
General Shop Support
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks and overhead cranes safely.
- Keep warehouse and shipping areas clean and organized.
- Follow all safety policies and procedures.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist other departments during peak workloads.
Qualifications
Required
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 2–5 years experience in shipping, receiving or warehouse operations within manufacturing.
- Valid forklift certification (or ability to obtain).
- Experience handling steel, fabricated components or industrial equipment.
- Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office.
- Experience using ERP or inventory management software.
- Ability to read work orders and packing documents.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
Preferred
- Experience in steel fabrication or heavy equipment manufacturing.
- Experience with overhead cranes.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently lift up to 50 lbs (23 kg).
- Stand and walk for extended periods.
- Bend, kneel and climb as required.
- Work indoors in a manufacturing environment.
- Operate forklifts, cranes and material handling equipment.
- Work safely around fabrication equipment.
