The town of Vermilion (population 4,000+) is a great place to live, work, and play. Discover K-12 public and Catholic education; Lakeland College offers local post-secondary and adult learning courses, as well as a variety of sports, arts, and social groups to enjoy. Vermilion Provincial Park, one of the largest in Alberta, is located within Town boundaries and boasts nearly 23 kilometers of hiking trails where you can spot up to 100 different bird species. This position does include mobile collections to neighboring sites in Mannville, Islay, and Vermilion Lodge requiring use of personal vehicle, but primary site will be in Vermilion Health Centre Lab.
As a Medical Laboratory Assistant I, you will provide high quality service to clients of the clinical laboratory in an effective, efficient and safe manner. You will be responsible for a variety of laboratory functions including procurement, handling, processing, dispatching and testing of specimens, performing procedures and reporting results.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program and experience performing macroscopic urinalysis testing. Phlebotomy experience is required. Working within a team environment, good interpersonal skills, effective time management and the ability to set priorities are necessary. Excellent communication skills both written and oral are required. Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, be adaptable and flexible within an environment of change and interruptions. Must be able to represent Laboratory Medicine in a respectful, professional, and courteous manner.
Preferred Qualifications:
Connect Care - Epic Laboratory Information System experience is preferred as well as experience with microscopic urinalysis testing and reporting. Experience performing ECG's with a MacVue 360 and Holter Monitors. Medical Terminology and experience in a healthcare setting within the last 2 years is preferred.
