Job Title: Material Handler / Fork Lift Operator

Position Summary
The Shipping and Receiving Associate is responsible for accurately receiving inbound materials and preparing outbound shipments of finished goods in a manufacturing environment. This role ensures products and materials are handled safely, orders are fulfilled accurately, and all inventory and shipment transactions are properly recorded in the ERP system to support inventory accuracy and on-time delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Receiving
- Receive incoming materials, components, and supplies from carriers
- Verify shipments against purchase orders, packing slips, and ERP records for accuracy and condition
- Inspect, document, and report shortages, damages, or discrepancies
- Enter receiving transactions accurately into the ERP system
- Label and store received materials in designated inventory locations
Shipping & Order Fulfillment
- Package goods according to company standards and customer requirements
- Prepare shipping documentation including packing slips, bills of lading, and shipping labels
- Coordinate shipments with carriers and stage orders for pickup
- Verify correct items, quantities, and packaging prior to shipment
ERP & Inventory Transactions
- Process shipping, receiving, inventory transfers, and adjustments in the ERP system
- Maintain accurate inventory records through timely data entry
Equipment & Material Handling
- Safely operate material handling equipment such as pallet jacks and forklifts (where trained and certified)
- Load and unload trucks safely and efficiently
- Ensure proper handling and storage of all materials to prevent damage
Health, Safety & Housekeeping
- Follow all workplace health and safety policies and safe work practices
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shipping and receiving area
- Use required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times
· Safely handle heavy materials, components, and finished products, with the ability to manually handle up to 50 lbs. and utilize assistance or equipment for loads exceeding 50 lbs.
Teamwork & Communication
- Work closely with inventory, production, logistics, and customer service teams
- Communicate shipment priorities, delays, or inventory issues to supervisors promptly
Other Duties
- Perform other duties as assigned or required to support shipping, receiving, inventory accuracy, and operational needs.
Qualifications & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous experience in shipping and receiving, warehousing, or logistics within a manufacturing environment preferred
- Experience using ERP or inventory management systems an asset
- Forklift certification required (if outdated, re-certification will be provided)
- Ability to read pick lists, shipping documents, labels, and ERP-generated reports
