We are looking for a Lead Carpenter with site supervision experience who is equally comfortable with a tool in hand and running a crew. This is a 60% supervision / 40% hands-on carpentry role. You will be on site every day, working alongside your team, coordinating trades, managing material flow, and ensuring quality craftsmanship.
The Role
You will work closely with our Project Manager. The PM handles scheduling trades, coordinating material deliveries, managing budgets, and office coordination. Your job is to lead the work on the ground—ensuring subcontractors execute their scope correctly, stay on sequence, and maintain quality standards. You'll communicate daily with the PM to flag upcoming needs, trade issues, or delays.
Key Responsibilities
On-Site Leadership & Coordination

- Coordinate carpenters, labourers, and subcontractors across all phases of residential construction
- Manage subcontractors on-site: hold them to agreed scope, schedule, and quality standards
- Sequence trades to keep work moving efficiently with no delays
- Inspect work at each stage and confirm it meets specification
- Run daily toolbox meetings to brief the crew and set the day's plan
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized job site at all times
Daily Communication with Project Manager
- Check in with the PM daily with clear updates on progress, upcoming needs, and issues
- Flag when subs need to be scheduled, materials are required, or trade issues arise
- Submit daily site logs and photos on time, every day
- Communicate scope changes, delays, or concerns to the PM promptly
- Participate in weekly production meetings
Subcontractor & Client Relations
- Direct subcontractors on-site to ensure they stay on schedule and meet standards
- Conduct client site visits professionally; escalate anything beyond your scope to the PM
- Maintain solid working relationships with trades and suppliers
Documentation & Site Administration
- Prepare and submit change order requests, RFIs, and site documentation accurately and on time
- Manage material deliveries and flag shortages or delays to the PM immediately
- Keep site records up to date to support budget tracking and project reporting
