We are seeking an experienced Cost Accountant to join our team during an exciting period of growth and digital transformation. Reporting to the Finance Director, this role will take ownership of manufacturing cost accounting within our new SAP environment. You will partner closely with Operation, Production and Supply Chain to maintain standard costs, analyze variances, support inventory management, and provide the financial insights needed to protect margins.
This is a role for a hands-on professional who can leverage their experience to drive cost efficiency with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and manage cost accounting systems within the ERP (e.g., SAP), ensuring accuracy of cost data across materials, labor, overhead, and production processes.
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve standard costing methodologies, ensuring alignment with ERP master data (BOMs, routings, work centers, and inventory valuation).
- Perform ongoing cost variance analysis (PPV, labor variances, overhead absorption, scrap, and yield) and investigate discrepancies between standard and actual costs.
- Ensure accurate inventory valuation within the ERP system, including raw materials, WIP (work-in-progress), and finished goods.
- Support month-end and year-end closing activities, including journal entries, cost accruals, reconciliations, and reporting within ERP modules.
- Partner with operations, supply chain, and production teams to ensure ERP data integrity and accurate tracking of production consumption and output.
- Maintain and audit ERP master data related to costing (item master, cost centers, BOM structures, routing standards).
- Analyze manufacturing performance metrics and translate ERP data into actionable insights for cost reduction and efficiency improvements.
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes using ERP cost modules and historical cost data analysis.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and external audit requirements related to cost accounting and ERP financial reporting.
- Develop and automate ERP-based cost reporting dashboards and KPIs to support management decision-making.
- Assist in ERP system enhancements, upgrades, and testing related to cost accounting functionality and reporting requirements.
