BKT Excavating Ltd. is seeking a Junior Estimator/Project Coordinator to join our team.
The ideal candidate will have an interest in civil construction estimating and possess strong analytical skills, accompanied with excellent communication and organization. This role works alongside the Estimator in achieving the below objectives. It is expected that the Junior Estimator/Project Coordinator would have a minimal knowledge of how to execute the below responsibilities and would learn and develop skills on the job, with the potential to develop into a more senior role.
Responsibilities (under direction and guidance of Estimator):
· Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and other relevant material to provide accurate quantity take-offs
· Draft, solicit and review request for pricing from suppliers and subcontractors
· Perform various other duties as assigned
Responsibilities (Under direction and guidance of Project Manager):
· Liaise with construction personnel in creation and weekly review of project schedule and deliverables
· Assist in creation of project billing schedule of values, time and material billing and continual review of work progress
· Completion of project start up requirements (drafting POs for approval, acquiring project bonds, drafting traffic control plans; acquiring, reviewing and submitting shop drawings; managing utility locates; ensuring health and safety requirements are met, etc.)
· Perform various other duties as assigned
Requirements:
· College diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Project Management, or similar (considered an asset not required)
· Proficiency with MS excel, word, outlook, and project
· InSite Elevation, Bluebeam, and AutoCAD software experience (considered an asset not required)
· Ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines, strong ability to multi-task
· Positive team player with the ability to work under minimal supervision
· Valid G License with clean drivers abstract and reliable transportation

Hours of Work:
· Monday through Friday – 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (0.5h unpaid lunch)
· Flexible hours available to accommodate personal needs
· Possibility of flex hours once developed in the role
· Overtime expected as required
Salary:
· $40,000 – $60,000 depending on experience and qualifications (paid hourly)
