About the Role
Langille's Truck Parts is seeking a motivated and safety-focused Heavy Duty Truck Dismantler (Torch Cutter) to join our team. This position is primarily responsible for dismantling heavy-duty trucks, trailers, and commercial equipment using oxy-fuel cutting equipment and other mechanical tools. The successful candidate will safely separate large steel components for processing while maximizing the recovery of valuable materials.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has experience with heavy equipment, truck dismantling, or metal recycling and enjoys hands-on work in an industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely dismantle heavy-duty trucks, trailers, and commercial equipment using oxy-fuel cutting torches and mechanical tools.
- Cut and separate vehicle frames, cabs, suspensions, axles, and other large steel components for processing.
- Remove components in a safe and efficient manner while following established dismantling procedures.
- Operate forklifts, loaders, overhead hoists, and other equipment to position and move vehicles and materials safely.
- Inspect vehicles before dismantling and identify potential hazards.
- Maintain torch equipment and perform routine inspections to ensure safe operation.
- Keep the work area clean and organized while following all health, safety, and environmental procedures.
- Work closely with equipment operators and fellow team members to maintain productivity and a safe work environment.
Qualifications
- Previous experience with oxy-fuel cutting or torch cutting is preferred.
- Experience dismantling heavy-duty trucks, trailers, heavy equipment, or working in a scrap metal recycling environment is an asset.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to safely use hand and power tools.
- Ability to safely read and interpret basic work instructions.
- Physically capable of lifting, climbing, bending, and working around large equipment throughout the day.
- Forklift or heavy equipment experience is considered an asset.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and safe torch handling practices.
- Reliable, dependable, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Work Environment
- Outdoor work in all weather conditions.
- Physically demanding work requiring standing, bending, lifting, climbing, and repetitive movement.
- Regular exposure to heavy trucks, machinery, and industrial equipment.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including welding and cutting PPE must be worn at all times.
- Full-time hours with overtime available during busy periods.
