Level 3 Apprentice to Journeyperson / Red Seal | $34–$50/hour | Monday to Friday | Winnipeg & Southern Manitoba
About the Role
AAA Heating & Ventilation Inc. is hiring a refrigeration/HVAC installer to help install and commission cold-climate air-source heat pumps in residential homes across Southern Manitoba.
Most projects involve retrofitting heat pumps into existing homes, commonly with electric furnaces and existing central air conditioning systems. Some work may include apartment buildings, light commercial sites, and future ground-source heat pump projects.
This is a strong opportunity for an experienced installer who wants to step into a lead role, or for a motivated Level 3 or Level 4 apprentice who wants to grow into one.
What You’ll Do
- Install ducted and ductless cold-climate air-source heat pump systems
- Retrofit heat pumps into existing residential homes
- Install refrigerant piping, pressure test, evacuate, charge, start up, and commission systems
- Complete installation, start-up, and commissioning documentation
- Read equipment manuals, wiring diagrams, schematics, and drawings
- Communicate professionally with homeowners and team members
- Work with apprentices and other trades where required
- Support occasional troubleshooting, warranty, or service work related to installations
- Participate in paid heat pump and manufacturer training
What You Bring
- Level 3 or Level 4 Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic apprentice, Journeyperson, Red Seal, or equivalent residential refrigeration/HVAC certification
- Residential HVAC or refrigeration installation experience
- Strong refrigeration fundamentals, including brazing, evacuation, charging, and leak testing
- Ability to read wiring diagrams and installation manuals
- Clean workmanship and strong attention to detail
- Good communication skills with homeowners and team members
- Valid driver’s licence
Heat pump installation or commissioning experience is strongly preferred, but we are open to training the right person.
Required Certifications
- Valid driver’s licence
- Manitoba ODS/MOPIA certification, or ability to obtain/renew before handling refrigerants
- Registered refrigeration/HVAC apprentice, journeyperson, Red Seal, or equivalent residential certification
Assets
- Experience with cold-climate heat pump systems
- Experience leading installations or mentoring apprentices
- Multi-family or light commercial HVAC experience
- WHMIS, fall protection, first aid, or other safety training
- “B” Gas Fitter licence
