Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Carpet Installer to join our construction and flooring team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing carpet, flooring, and related materials in residential and commercial spaces. This role requires a strong understanding of construction principles, excellent craftsmanship, and the ability to interpret blueprints. The Carpet Installer will work closely with clients and team members to ensure high-quality results that meet project specifications and safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Measure and prepare work areas for carpet and flooring installation
- Use hand tools and power tools to cut, shape, and secure carpet, tiles, and other flooring materials
- Read and interpret blueprints, floor plans, and technical drawings to execute precise installations
- Perform surface preparation tasks such as leveling, caulking, and minor carpentry work to ensure proper flooring adhesion
- Install various types of flooring including carpet, tile, laminate, and vinyl in accordance with manufacturer specifications
- Ensure all installations are completed efficiently, safely, and to client satisfaction
- Maintain a clean work environment by organizing tools and disposing of waste materials properly
- Collaborate with other tradespeople such as carpenters or handyman specialists when necessary
Skills
- Proficiency with hand tools and familiarity with construction practices
- Experience in flooring installation, including carpet laying and tile setting
- Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings accurately
- Strong carpentry skills for surface preparation and framing adjustments
- Knowledge of caulking techniques for sealing seams and edges
- Previous handyman experience is a plus for handling miscellaneous tasks on-site
- Excellent attention to detail, safety awareness, and problem-solving abilities
- Physical stamina to lift heavy materials, kneel for extended periods, and work in various environmental conditions
