Commercial Lines Underwriter - 10 month contract
Here is what a typical day looks like

Contributing to the growth of the business by acting as a Subject Matter Expert (SME)

Coaching and mentoring a team with the support and assistance of the Assistant Manager
-
Gathering and investigating background information to effectively assess risk involved
-
Analyzing and evaluating necessary information to determine business needs
-
Reviewing and issuing renewals, endorsements, cancellations and new business
-
Analyzing, evaluating and classifying assigned applications to determine acceptability and establish rates
-
Maintaining awareness of market trends and conditions price levels
-
Developing and maintaining positive relationships with brokers with a commitment to service
-
Responding to inquiries form insurance agents regarding underwriting processes and decisions, interpretation of policy forms and coverage, and premium levels
-
Providing service throughout the policy period, approving routine changes to existing coverage and responding to inquiries from the agent and client
-
Contributing to the evaluation of agency performance and issues, and to the modification of underwriting guidelines

Mentoring underwriting staff in underwriting theory, technical and soft skill fundamentals. Coaching and guiding with respect to service standards

Contributing to the development of underwriting policy, procedures and guidelines
The value you bring

General Insurance Level 2 License required, CIP, or CAIB preferred
-
Proven experience working as a Commercial Underwriter

Professional communication etiquette, both written and verbal
-
Adept in retrieving customer data efficiently
-
Involvement in industry related associations and your community
