Position Overview
Into Action Recovery is seeking a skilled and reliable Cook/Chef to prepare high-quality, nutritious meals for 30–40 residents in a structured, supportive recovery environment. This role operates out of a commissary-style kitchen, producing daily meals that are distributed to multiple supportive recovery homes.
This position is ideal for a professional who values consistency, efficiency, and purpose-driven work, and who is capable of maintaining high culinary and food safety standards at scale.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and execute daily meal production for 30–40 residents (breakfast, lunch, and dinner as scheduled)
- Develop simple, cost-effective, and nutritionally balanced rotating menus
- Operate within a commissary kitchen model, ensuring meals are packaged and distributed efficiently
- Maintain strict adherence to FoodSafe and Fraser Health guidelines
- Manage food inventory, ordering, and cost control
- Ensure cleanliness, organization, and compliance within the kitchen environment
- Accommodate dietary needs and restrictions where required
- Coordinate with program staff to align meal service with house schedules
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a cook or chef in a high-volume kitchen (institutional, catering, or commissary experience preferred)
- Valid FoodSafe Level 1 (Level 2 considered an asset)
- Strong understanding of food safety, sanitation, and kitchen operations
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Reliable, consistent, and punctual
Assets (Preferred but Not Required)
- Experience working in recovery, supportive housing, or community-based environments
- Red Seal Certification or formal culinary training
- Experience with bulk meal prep and cost-efficient menu planning
