About the Opportunity
We are seeking a highly experienced, hands-on Senior Accountant to join our team in Canada and take ownership of our accounting and bookkeeping functions and become a key leader within our organization. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious accounting professional pursuing or holding a CPA designation who is looking to evolve into a Financial Controller role.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and manage the complete accounting and bookkeeping cycle from transaction processing and recordkeeping through financial reporting.
- Maintain accurate bookkeeping records, including coding transactions, posting entries, reconciling accounts, and ensuring records are complete and up to date.
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, bank reconciliations, GST/HST, and corporate tax filings.
- Lead collections and settlement of accounts receivable and accounts payable balances.
- Perform comprehensive financial reconciliations for company-owned restaurants, including deposits, credit card transactions, and related general ledger accounts.
- Manage accounting for intercompany transactions.
- Monitor cash flow, working capital, and liquidity.
- Administer any loans issued by the company, including tracking loan terms, repayment schedules, interest calculations, documentation, and related accounting entries.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
- Perform cost accounting analysis related to food cost, inventory usage, and warehouse operations costs to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improved profitability.
- Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide financial insights, reporting, and guidance to management to support decision-making and operational performance.
- Coordinate with external accountants, auditors, banks, lenders, and government agencies, as necessary.
- Maintain accurate accounting records, supporting documentation, and organized filing systems.
- Develop internal controls and improve accounting processes.
- Perform audits on franchise partner financial performance.
- Additional responsibilities and special projects to be provided on an ongoing basis.
Qualifications
- Minimum Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
- CPA designation (completed or actively pursuing) is an asset but not mandatory.
- Minimum of 4 years of accounting experience. Experience in Franchising would be considered an asset.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and the Canadian Tax Code
- Advanced QuickBooks Online expertise
- Strong financial reporting, payroll, budgeting, and forecasting knowledge
- Excellent analysis and presentation skills with attention to detail
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently
Pay: $65,000.00-$85,000.00 per year
