Duties
- Safely operate straight trucks for the transportation of freight across designated routes, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations
- Load and unload freight using forklift or other heavy equipment, ensuring secure handling and proper placement of cargo
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to identify maintenance needs or safety issues, reporting any concerns promptly
- Verify shipment documentation, ensuring accuracy in freight delivery and pickup processes
- Maintain detailed logs of driving hours, freight movements, and delivery records in compliance with company policies and legal requirements
- Assist with minor automotive repairs or troubleshooting mechanical issues to minimize downtime during routes
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, warehouse staff, and clients to coordinate pickups, deliveries, and any schedule adjustments
Experience
- Proven experience in commercial driving with a valid driver’s license suitable for operating straight trucks (CDL preferred but not mandatory)
- Demonstrated ability to operate forklifts and other heavy equipment safely and efficiently
- Knowledge of freight handling procedures and safety protocols in transportation environments
- Basic automotive repair skills to perform routine vehicle maintenance checks and troubleshoot mechanical problems
- Familiarity with transportation regulations, including hours-of-service rules and safety standards
- Prior experience in heavy equipment operation is highly desirable

Pay: $4,500.00-$5,500.00 per month

- Dartmouth, NS: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)
Experience:
- Straight truck driver: 2 years (preferred)
