Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Site Superintendent. The Site Superintendent will oversee construction projects from start to finish. You will primarily coordinate and verify the activities, materials and workmanship of subcontractors. You will also work directly with our carpenters and labourers to complete demolition, minor concrete, and carpentry tasks, ensuring that all parts of the project come together seamlessly. The successful candidate will be responsible for keeping projects on schedule and in budget while maintaining a high level of quality and workmanship.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Regular reporting and coordinating with the Project Manager.
- Supervise and coordinate construction activities on-site, ensuring compliance with project plans, specifications, and local building codes.
- Ensure quality control on the work of subtrades and our own forces at all phases of construction.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine quality control and quality assurance requirements.
- Ensure standards for safe working conditions are observed by all workers and subcontractors on site.
- Conduct weekly toolbox meetings, monthly hazard assessments, and regular site inspections to prioritize a safe work environment.
- Complete accurate daily job diaries, safety reports, and work progress records as required, maintaining excellent documentation.
- Collaborate with subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to resolve any issues or conflicts that may arise.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Trade Certification: Red Seal Journeyman Carpenter designation (or equivalent experience) with the ability to work independently.
- Experience: Proven experience in the construction industry.
- Technical Skills: Basic working knowledge of computers, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel. Must be competent with digital record-keeping and familiar with tools like SiteDocs.
- Soft Skills: Effective supervisory, time management, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Must communicate effectively and tactfully with a wide variety of individuals ranging from the public to technical experts.
- Licensing: A valid driver's license is required.
- Physical Ability: Willing and able to perform physically demanding work, including lifting and moving items that could weigh in the range of 30-50 lbs.
Working Conditions
- Schedule: Typically an 8-hour shift, Monday to Friday, with weekends and overtime as needed.
- Travel: Willingness to travel throughout the province is required; frequent out-of-town travel and overnight stays may be necessary. All travel and overnight stays are fully compensated. Company vehicle will be provided for work use.
- Environment: Site Superintendents are frequently required to work outside in all kinds of weather, which can include excessive heat, cold, wind, rain, and snow.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $40.00-$50.00 per hour
