DESCRIPTION: Laboratory Technician– Burnaby, BC (Sunday-Thursday, 9am-5:30pm)
Description: The Laboratory Technician performs routine analytical testing and sample preparation in accordance with established methods and quality standards. This role is responsible for generating accurate data, maintaining equipment, and supporting efficient laboratory operations.
Role Responsibilities:
· Perform sample preparation (e.g., extraction, digestion, filtration) according to SOPs
· Conduct routine laboratory analyses using established methods
· Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot basic laboratory instrumentation
· Perform required quality control procedures and document results
· Accurately record and review data in laboratory systems
· Ensure compliance with all quality assurance and safety protocols
· Support sample tracking, storage, and disposal processes
· Identify and escalate anomalies, deviations, or equipment issues
· Assist in improving workflows and laboratory efficiency
· Support training of Laboratory Assistants as needed

Qualifications:
· Diploma or degree in Chemistry, Microbiology, Environmental Science, or any related field
· 1–3 years of laboratory experience, preferably in an environmental lab
· Strong organizational and communication skills
· Ability to follow and execute SOPs with a high level of accuracy
· Detail-oriented with strong data recording and administrative skills
· Ability to manage time, multitask, and respond to changing work demands
· Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel)
· Ability to work independently and troubleshoot routine issues
· Ability to complete a fit test for respirator.
· Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
