We are seeking a friendly and efficient full time & part time Cafe Assistant to join our team. About the Job
In our little farm market cafe we have a variety of drinks and pastries. Staff get a free staff drink as well as a staff discount on all of our produce.
Duties
- Prepare and serve a variety of food and beverages in accordance with established standards
- Operate POS systems, including Micros POS, for order processing and cash handling
- Assist customers with menu selections, upselling items to enhance sales
- Handle cash transactions accurately and efficiently
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of work areas, including kitchen and dining spaces
- Ensure food safety protocols are followed at all times
- Manage time effectively to handle multiple orders during busy periods
- Restock supplies as needed to ensure smooth operations
- Provide friendly and attentive customer service to create a welcoming atmosphere
Requirements
- Previous experience in food service or restaurant environment is preferred but not required
- Knowledge of food preparation, handling, and sanitation standards
- Familiarity with POS systems, especially Micros POS, is a plus
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively
- Basic math skills for cash handling and order calculations
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
- Excellent time management skills to prioritize tasks during busy hours
- Kitchen experience or food industry background is advantageous
- Ability to maintain a professional appearance and positive attitude at all times

On our farm we have a bakery that makes fresh baked breads, pies, pastries, and creates sandwiches and salads from fresh local produce.
We also host special events like our yearly Mother's Day Tea, Harvest festival, local makers markets, and our U-Pick Pumpkin Patch.
