Job Description:
We are currently looking for an enthusiastic, energetic, self-motivated and very reliable individual. There are two part-time position that is currently vacant. These positions are permanent long-term opportunity to provide care for a complex-care young male. This is an autonomous practice position meaning you will be working independently in a home care setting. Training is provided for personal care and ADLs and will be provided upon acceptance of the position. Pay rates are competitive. ALL applicants will start at the same pay rate (see above for starting rates). There will be a probationary period of 6 months (or 26 weeks). All scheduling is done online and posted monthly. The schedule is a continuous set schedule meaning you will be working the same shifts weekly.
Currently hiring for the following shifts:
1 Nurse (RPN) for the following shifts:
Day/Evening -
2-3 shifts a week for day time and afternoon after school shifts. Shifts are 8-12h shifts.
*Scheduling will be discussed during the interview and a confirmed schedule on acceptance of the position.
Overnight -
2-3 night shifts a week, 8-12h shifts (fully awake shift, no sleeping/sleep time flex shift)

Required Job Skills:
· Strong communication (oral and written) skills to be able to clearly communicate with the family as it relates to the care, updates, concerns, etc. regarding the patient.
· Accountability and excellent work ethics, as well as solid documentation, time management, problem solving and critical thinking skills are a must.
· Experience working in the community (group home, privately, acute or complex continuing care an asset).
· Experience with different types of seizures and the associated care that comes with generalized epilepsy an asset/ movement disorders (dystonia experience an asset).
· Exposure to the VNS (vagus nerve stimulator) technology an asset.
· Medication administration, including but not limited to via G-tube, nebulization, intranasal, buccal and rectum.
· Nasopharyngeal suctioning (nasopharyngeal experience is a must). The nurse must possess strong chest assessment skills (able to identify different chest sounds and needed interventions). This is non-negotiable as the client is prone to aspiration pneumonia. This role is autonomous, so you will need to know how to identify respiratory changes, treatment needed, understand how to read doctors orders for further instructions and follow nursing care plans in place for additional information. (NURSES EXPECTED TO BRING A STETHOSCOPE TO EVERY SHIFT).
· Basic wound care including the ability to identify the different stages of a pressure injuries and treatments.
· Vital signs assessment, including pain assessment and management
· Ability to lift 50 lbs and to operate a push wheelchair and ceiling track for sling lift transfers.
· Bi-Pap knowledge and understanding. (Training on personal machine will be provided).
- Must agree to work your scheduled shifts with the client in hospital in the event he is hospitalized.
Professional Requirements:
· Proof of completion or either a diploma in an accredited nursing program.
· Current CPR (level C minimum, BSL preferred) and first aid
· Recent police check (must have been done within the last 3 months of acceptance of employment or applied for immediately upon acceptance of the job)
· College of Nursing of Ontario registration in good standings.
