This is a hands-on role for someone who likes physical work, takes pride in getting things done properly, and is comfortable working in an active yard environment year-round. You’ll be supporting the day-to-day flow of the shop and assisting with a wide range of tasks including loading and unloading trucks, prep work, clean-up, material handling, and general shop support.
Key Responsibilities
- Pull and prepare material to load trucks multiple times per day
- Assist with walk-in customers
- Safely operate overhead cranes to load machines and move material
- Operate a forklift for material handling and storage
- Locate, retrieve, rack, and organize raw material and off-cuts
- Prime material in yard/shop as needed
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Support general production and material handling needs as required
Qualifications
- Ability to accurately measure and work in imperial units (feet, inches, fractions)
- Experience in a steel service centre or manufacturing environment is a strong asset
- Comfortable working in an outdoor industrial environment around heavy material and machinery
- Ability to read work orders
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Reliable, punctual, and safety-focused
- Must be able to lift 50+lbs
Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm
