Job Summary
Madsen's Custom Cabinets (1983) Ltd. is seeking an Architectural Millwork Estimator to join our growing team in Edmonton, Alberta.
We are looking for an organized and detail-oriented individual with experience estimating architectural millwork and commercial cabinetry projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing tender documents, performing quantity takeoffs, preparing accurate estimates, and coordinating with suppliers, project managers, general contractors, architects, and consultants.
This position offers an opportunity to work on a wide range of projects including healthcare facilities, educational institutions, commercial offices, hospitality spaces, multi-family developments, and high-end custom interiors.
Responsibilities
- Review architectural drawings, specifications, and tender documents.
- Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs and cost estimates.
- Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations.
- Prepare tender submissions and bid documentation.
- Analyze project risks and identify value engineering opportunities.
- Issue RFIs and track project clarifications during the bidding process.
- Participate in project handoff meetings with project management and production teams.
- Maintain accurate estimating records and historical cost databases.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, architects, and suppliers.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of estimating experience in architectural millwork, commercial cabinetry, custom woodworking, store fixtures, or commercial interiors.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
- Strong understanding of millwork construction methods, materials, and manufacturing processes.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Bluebeam Revu.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with AWMAC standards and commercial millwork projects.
- Experience with AutoCAD, Microvellum, or related millwork software.
- Knowledge of veneers, laminates, solid surfaces, specialty finishes, and architectural hardware.
Compensation
$45,000 - $65,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
