Role Overview
This is a hands-on dual-role position within an industrial asphalt manufacturing environment, combining plant operations with mechanical maintenance. You will split your time between running production and troubleshooting/repairing equipment, depending on weather and production demands.This is not a single-focus role — it’s suited to someone who enjoys variety, problem-solving, and being directly involved in both operations and maintenance.
Requirements
- 5–10+ years of experience in a plant, manufacturing, or industrial environment
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills
- Hands-on experience operating or monitoring industrial plant equipment
- Comfortable working outdoors year-round in varying weather conditions
- Comfortable working at heights
- Proven ability to switch between operations and maintenance tasks
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and team-first mentality
Nice-to-Haves
- Red Seal Millwright certification (strongly preferred)
- Background as a Millwright, Industrial Electrician, or Welder
- Experience in asphalt, aggregates, or similar heavy industrial plants
- Loader or heavy equipment operating experience
Responsibilities
- Operate, monitor, and support production within an asphalt plant
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues and perform repairs on plant equipment
- Execute preventative maintenance to reduce downtime
- Identify and resolve minor issues before they escalate (“operator’s eye”)
- Adjust between production-focused work and maintenance-heavy work depending on conditions:
- Peak season: primarily plant operation and monitoring
- Rain/weather downtime: maintenance and repair focus
- Annual shutdown: intensive maintenance and plant overhaul
- Work closely with a small, tight-knit crew (3–4 people)
- Support a safe, efficient, and continuous production process
