Finance & Accounting Manager
Location: Niagara Region, ON (In-Office)
About the Role
We are seeking a highly hands-on Finance & Accounting Manager who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. Reporting to the Controller, this role is responsible for full-cycle accounting, with a strong focus on executing core accounting functions, ensuring reconciliation accuracy, and strengthening foundational financial processes.
The ideal candidate is comfortable rolling up their sleeves, personally resolving accounting discrepancies, and helping build reliable financial systems while partnering with finance, operations, and sales teams.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Month-End Close
Execute full-cycle accounting, including preparing and posting journal entries.
Perform detailed balance sheet reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
Lead the month-end close process, ensuring accuracy and timely completion.
Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules.
Identify and correct historical accounting inconsistencies.
Accounting Process Improvement
Assist with clearing accounting backlogs and closing financial gaps.
Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and inventory.
Improve documentation, audit trails, and supporting schedules.
Strengthen the integrity and reliability of financial data.
Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable
Support daily AP and AR activities.
Resolve vendor and customer account discrepancies.
Improve invoice processing, collections, and cash flow reporting.
Inventory & Cost Accounting
Perform inventory reconciliations and cost of goods sold (COGS) analysis.
Investigate inventory and financial reporting variances.
Support accurate product costing across multiple sales channels.
Assist with correcting historical inventory discrepancies.
Budgeting & Financial Analysis
Support budgeting and forecasting activities.
Prepare variance analysis and financial reports.
Assist with cost management and profitability analysis.
Systems & Process Enhancement
Recommend workflow improvements and automation opportunities.
Support ERP and business intelligence reporting enhancements.
Strengthen internal controls and scalable accounting processes.
Compliance & Internal Controls
Maintain strong accounting controls and financial compliance.
Support audit preparation and maintain organized financial documentation.
Ensure adherence to accounting policies and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
CPA designation.
5-9 years of hands-on full-cycle accounting experience.
Experience within consumer goods, manufacturing, retail, or e-commerce environments preferred.
Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including advanced formulas and data analysis.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and changing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with ERP systems.
Familiarity with business intelligence and reporting tools.
Exposure to automation or AI tools for improving accounting processes.
