Project Planner / Scheduler
Pay Rate: $85.02–$126.50/hour, depending on experience

Raise is currently hiring a Project Planner / Scheduler on behalf of our client. They're expanding their Capital Projects team to support major project execution, making this an exciting opportunity to contribute to large-scale industrial projects while working alongside experienced project controls and engineering professionals. Our Client, the third largest producer of Canadian oil and natural gas and the second largest refiner and upgrader with extensive midstream and downstream infrastructure.
Note: The primary pay rate is based on T4 classification; however, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in an INC classification, where applicable.
Description
The Project Planner / Scheduler is responsible for developing, integrating, and maintaining detailed project schedules that support engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities across multiple capital projects. This role plays a critical part in standardizing planning and scheduling processes, providing schedule analysis and forecasting, monitoring project performance, and ensuring accurate reporting throughout the project lifecycle.
The successful candidate will bring extensive Primavera P6 expertise, strong project controls knowledge, and experience supporting large-scale industrial, oil & gas, petrochemical, or energy projects.
Responsibilities
Project Planning & Scheduling

Develop and maintain Level I–IV integrated project schedules in collaboration with Project Managers, Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Commissioning teams.

Integrate schedules from Engineering & Procurement (EP) contractors, module yards, construction management teams, and commissioning groups into a consolidated master schedule.

Develop Schedule Basis Memorandums outlining assumptions, constraints, execution strategies, and planning methodologies.

Build front-end planning schedules using early project information, including plot plans, Class V estimates, and historical metrics.

Support resource loading, manpower forecasting, and schedule optimization.
Schedule Analysis & Reporting

Perform schedule health checks, critical path analysis, float analysis, and variance reporting.

Conduct "what-if" schedule scenarios to evaluate recovery plans and risk mitigation strategies.

Review schedule logic, identify sequencing issues, dependencies, and execution risks.

Monitor contractor progress against approved schedules and recommend corrective actions where required.

Prepare bi-weekly progress reports, performance dashboards, resource histograms, KPI reports, and forecasting updates.

Consolidate schedule performance data across multiple contractors and project stakeholders.
Project Controls

Support change management processes by incorporating approved schedule changes into integrated project schedules.

Implement standardized planning, scheduling, and progress measurement methodologies.

Maintain resource-loaded schedules aligned with contractor progress reports.

Contribute to the continuous improvement of planning procedures, templates, reporting standards, and Primavera P6 best practices.

Collaborate closely with project teams to ensure planning consistency across multiple operating assets and capital projects.
Qualifications

Minimum 10 years of project planning and scheduling experience supporting major capital projects.

Advanced hands-on experience with Primavera P6.

Strong understanding of EPC project lifecycles, work breakdown structures (WBS), cost breakdown structures (CBS), and project controls.

Experience developing and maintaining integrated engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning schedules.

Strong understanding of schedule risk analysis, forecasting, and change management processes.

Experience performing critical path analysis, schedule health assessments, and progress measurement.

Knowledge of construction sequencing and field execution practices.

Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Ability to manage multiple priorities within a fast-paced project environment.
Preferred Skills

Experience with Primavera Risk Analysis, Safran, or equivalent schedule risk analysis tools.

Experience developing performance dashboards, resource histograms, and KPI reporting.

Previous experience supporting large-scale oil & gas, petrochemical, energy, or industrial capital projects.

Degree or diploma in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Controls, or a related discipline.

Experience mentoring junior planners and schedulers.
