POSITION OVERVIEW
Surrey Police Service (SPS) has an exciting opportunity for a Regular Full Time Video Systems Clerk (Clerk 4) to join our Specialized Operations Division, within the Investigative Services Bureau. Reporting to the Sergeant, Forensic Video Analyst Team, the incumbent performs a variety of moderately complex clerical tasks. This level of work requires taking initiative and exercising independent judgement within established guidelines.
The Video Systems Clerk provides essential administrative and technical support to a forensic video analysis team. This role supports the intake, organization, and tracking of digital evidence while following best practices consistent with LEVA (Law Enforcement & Emergency Services Video Association), SWGDE (Scientific Working Group on Digital Evidence), and established forensic video methodologies. This position combines front-line administrative duties with structured technical handling of video evidence in a secure, detail-oriented law enforcement environment.
Duties include:
- Receive, download, duplicate. log and track digital multimedia evidence (DME) in accordance with established chain-of-custody protocols.
- Answer and manage incoming calls and requests for the Video Analysis Team in a professional, courteous, and service-oriented manner.
- Assist analysts by organizing media and preparing files for workflow processing.
- Demonstrate strong self-discipline and focus, minimizing non-work-related distractions (e.g., personal cell phone or internet use).
- Being coachable, open to feedback, and willing to learn new processes and skills
Schedule / Hours of Work
This is an on-site position and the anticipated schedule for this position is 7 hour days / 35 hour week. Please note, the hours are subject to change based on operational needs and adherence to the Collective Agreement.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plans, coordinates, trains, and supervises clerical staff in a variety of various functions.
- Interprets and communicates departmental regulations to the public to address complex issues.
- Reviews and validates the accuracy, completeness, and compliance of a wide array of records, statements, and office documents within departmental regulations.
- Creates new forms, procedures, and instructions, subject to a review by a supervisor.
Compiles documents by collecting and reviewing a range of data and complex statistical reports.
- Conducts junior level accounting statistical analysis.
- Composes various technical letters.
- Assists other staff in their duties.
- May be assigned to different divisions or sections within the department.
- Performs related duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS
- Completion of Grade 12, supplemented by completion of several business courses at a post-secondary level.
- Minimum 3 years of progressively responsible and diversified clerical experience including some supervisory experience.
- A minimum typing speed of 40 words per minute is required.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience
- All applicants must obtain and maintain the required police security clearance throughout their employment with SPS, which includes a mandatory polygraph examination.

- The compensation range is $31.97/hour - $34.75/hour (pay grade 15) based on 2024 rates.
